I realize that my dad is really smart, for someone that grew up the way he did at least. I am so thankful for his knowledge that he is able to share with me. I once asked him while he was on the phone...

Pioneer-ey
So I got ready for church today and I walk upstairs and my little brother greets me with, "Oh Mesa, you look pioneer-ey." I have no idea what that even means considering what I am wearing. Was that a compliment or not? I don't really know...
So Lets get started to see what you think! |
Lights,camera, action... |
I just had to have my messenger bag :) |
Do I really look like this?? |
I made this bouquet of lavender like 3 months ago and pretended that I got it from someone else, kinda sad. |

My Brother is Hercules
Hercules is my brother.
I have an amazing bother. People at school always complain about having this older brother who is mean to them or is annoying or whatever. You know in the old pioneer movies where they have the oldest brother who helps the dad out, he is really respectful to his younger siblings, buff, and responsible and the dad would die and the oldest brother would take that position and such? I remember when I was younger wanting a brother like that, and now I realize that I do. It is just a little different but it still is as good.
i do have a pioneer brother! |
It is easier to explain with examples so that's what I will do:
Last week my cat climbed up a tree 40 feet up and she was there for 4 days. My brother never really liked this cat, and I think he still does. This cat was unreachable, in the woods, no branches able to support anything, and stuck. Every day after school I would walk from the bus stop to the cat and he would be out there sweating and working hard, not giving up. He had so many ideas and tried them all. He had this determined mind set the whole the four days that I couldn’t have ever possessed. He built this 40 foot long pole thing and put the cat’s cage up there so that maybe she would go in; he was holding this up while he was on the ladder for long periods of time hoping the cat would get out of shock and crawl in he even put up with the cat peeing on him! The whole time I kind of felt bad because I couldn’t really do anything, or so I thought. His mind set was different, he believed he could just try, and see what happens from there. The forty foot contraption fell and I was trying to lift it up again for him while he was climbing down the ladder. I could barely lift the thing. As I remembered that Easton (my brother) was holding this up for a long time on a ladder made me think of the quote form the movie Hercules, “Jeepers, Mr. You’re really strong!” (Refer to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kAFVJYtNqA time: 1:00-1:45) Also, you know the movie Incredibles? Well the part of the movie when he is trying to shake the cat out of teh tree for the grandma came to mind as I watched Easton tirelessly work on the pussy dealio. He helped me lift it and eventually he helped the cat out of the tree. My brother is amazing.
This is my brother |
Do you see those muscles!?! |
You can't even see my cat! |
So many failed ideas, so many hours of trying |
The 40ft contraption that worked in the end. |
Another example is he takes me everywhere and doesn't complain about it. Now that is amazing for a teenage boy. He told me before seminary started that if I am not awake he is leaving without me, this morning he knocked on my door and told me to get up.My alarm did not go off that day and I very grateful that he did not leave me. It's not like he will push into a conversation to squeeze information out of me (like I feel some people do), it's just simple nice talk. Like: Him: "How is your blog going?" Me: "Good." Sometimes that's all you need to know that they didn't completely forget about you,a simple meaningful question or acknowledgement. It makes me feel teh best when he laughs at what I say or agree's with me. Because he is so cool and him agreeing with me is putting me to his level. I have a great Hercules, Pioneer brother, he is a an example to me and I am so thankful for him. how was I so lucky to get a pioneer brotehr in the 21st century?
So I am happy, Easton is happy ( It think he is) and Pace (my puss) is back to normal. :) How was I so lucky? I do not know.
Compare this with the picture below! |
Yep, he's Hercules |
It's true |

Dear Borders of my Small Town,
Dear Borders of My small town,
Your unexpected leaving is making me frown
Within in you, memories were made
And now without you they will fade
“Why does Borders have to leave?” I prayed
My mommy told me you have bills that have not been paid
I have a piggy bank with some change in it
Will it help you pay off your bills?
Anything I can do to prevent us from a split
Because Your books have helped me gain talents and skills
Me and my sister used to go to you every day
But I think I know why you are going bankrupt
People would come and read books and come back later so they wouldn’t have to pay
I know you would agree that that is totally corrupt!
I have to let you go
You will be in my heart forever,
While up I grow
Your leaving is something that I have to endeavor
I’m not going to say Goodbye
Because Goodbye means forgetting
And Forgetting means memories die
So I wrote this less than a year ago when I found out that Borders was going out of business. And I laughed when I dug it up today. Miss you Borders!!
This is a sad picture. |
See you in Heaven, Borders. |

Annoying and Amazing
Annoying and Amazing
Amazing:
There are just something’s that really bother me. I am not sure about you but these things really annoy me…
1. Numero uno. Words purposely spelled wrong. For example: instead of the “cutest cats contest” they will have, “kutest katz kontest. ” Misleading!! I thought for the longest time that “fruit’ was spelled “froot” because of (gulp) Froot Loops Cereal. The thing is, I don’t really care about the spelling as long as if it looks like they tried but couldn’t quite get it.
2.
2.“I have everything except…” oh my goodness, then you don’t have everything if you have to put the word “except” in the same sentence! Maybe if they didn’t realize they didn’t have everything and caught themselves after they said “everything,” then if it wouldn’t be so annoying.
3. The sound of few selected people who lick “food” off of their fingers. The sound is a high pitch screech that tears the air and makes my fists clench. I don’t know, maybe I am part dog or something; some high pitch noises are really sensitive to me.
4. Chewing, (also selected people) once again, I feel like I could make a band out of my families munching at the dinner table.
1. The sound of a live guitar. It sounds so rustic and homey. Not just strumming the strings unknowingly, but to where they actually sound like something. It takes my mind somewhere safe that I don’t have the pleasure of going very often.
2. There is something very special about the idea of someone (who actually can) sing to you. It makes me have that magical feeling of being in Disneyland when I was a youngling, almost like feeling that nothing could go wrong.
3. Watching someone draw or write. It’s just relaxing to watch what they are doing because it’s not like when you are drawing and you have that image in your head, when you watch someone else, it forms into something that you never expected.
4. Being able to dance around in the rain and not care how wet and muddy you will get.
5. Sleeping under the stars and having the feeling of running out of wishes to make because you see 10 shooting starts. Way cool.
6. . Chilling, doing whatever, looking like whatever with friends when you have nothing on your schedule.
7. The Adrenaline rush you get when you are going to goal with soccer ball at your feet.
8. Someone asking, “how are you?” and really mean it. Sometimes this phrase is thrown around like a greeting and I don’t think that is right.
9. Having someone take care of you while you are sick. (I fell asleep while my mom rubbed my feet; I still remember that from like 5 years ago. My mom is so cool.)
10. Earing over 100% in a class
11. Finally understanding some concept. Like in math or science.
So all of this is way cool, and obviously the good outnumber the bad by a lot. Have an amazing day full of happness!

Copy cat
I go to school a couple of Monday's ago with my bandanna in my hair and my man shirt tucked in...total chill. The next couple days following this particular Monday I starts seeing people at school with loose v-necks tucked in and bandanna's (wow I almost wrote banana's, thank goodness for spell checkers.) I was like, "oh that's cool that people are doing that." In last period I girl comes up to me, (this is Thursday and today I am wearing a grey bandanna) she asks me, why are you wearing bandanna" I look at her and I say, "because it hides my hair." She sticks her nose up and says, "everyone thinks that you are part of a gang, and a girl is really mad at you because she has been wearing bandannas all year before you." This makes me unhappy, first of all, why freak out over some bandanna, they sell them at fabric stores, for crying out loud! second, I have not seen this girl and good for her for being stylish like me ;) I honestly didn't care what people though of me but this girl kept nagging and nagging. So I am a "copy cat," I don't like that title. Don't be copy cat, it doesn't feel good. Ask before you copy ;) But I have proof that I think I started it at the school ;)............
I am part of a gang...It's called, Can I just go home and sleep? |
yes, this is what I look like, I know some of you have been wondering what I really look like now. |

Something I absolutely hate
Yes, I know hate is a "strong" word but I would be lying if I went soft and said 'I dislike this.' Littering, garbage, gross, ruining Gods creation, Ahhhhhhhhh!! It really frustrates me so much that my heart is racing with emotion right now. In the bible it even says in Genesis 1:26, 28, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
God said that twice and most likely more than just this throughout the scriptures. He said, I will make man and they can take change of the earth and use whatever is on it. But in his head I bet he was going 'I hope they know what they are doing, knowing mortals and all' because so far we have not done a good job. That shows how important this is. How I deal with this littering factor is I act upon my anger and pick up the litter. I sometimes bring my little brother along and guilt trip the older people driving beside us by showing that if you throw your junk out the window then little children, so pitiful looking have to pick it up. (Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but still.) I have had people slow down and tell me good job and such. It makes me feel good but I still...I rather not have to be encouraged. So I will continue to do my thing of picking up garbage on the side of the road, its not really a "global warming" thing its just making our world look nice.
Be responsible, okay?? So I don't have to clean up the mess. It is not at all attractive to be too lazy to put a wrapper in the garbage bin on the way into the house. Come on people, what are you going to do with your dominion that God granted you? Huh?

I quote kid history when he says, "this is so dross" |
This was me 2 years ago on a free day. Do you see what I am doing in my free time!! |

My Friend Lauren
So I have a dear friend. her name is Lauren. She is the friend you always wanted and needed but didn't know it. You should be jealous of me because I have her. She is the sweetest girl you would ever meet (as some of you may know.) She always has something silly and so cute to say, what she says makes you want to say, "You are just the cutest thing ever!" The has the best input on anything and she puts up with complaining. She loves you for who you are and encourages you to be your best self. (sounding like the perfect friend, I know.) I am so blessed to have a friend like her. The best part is, even if she wanted to, I don't know, get away from me, she couldn't because we are distantly related so she is kind of forced to be my pal ;)
Examples of how she is such a great person:
1. So once upon a time I was complaining to her about how I was scared about the fact that I don't really know how to be around and deal kids/children because I didn't grow up with them around me. I mean, I love kids and all, its just...It's like I loved painting but I don't know how to do it very well. Get it? Sorry if you don't, I am in a confused mood right now :) Ever since I told her that, she has invited me to tag along with her on babysitting retreats and I am ever so grateful for that learning experience. The thing is, most people would forget that you told them about their small struggle and say, "oh, that's too bad" then move on but no, Lauren remembered and that is the mark of a true fried.
2. It was my 14th birthday and Lauren gave me this card with warm fuzzies (refer too http://lds.org/friend/2011/08/a-birthday-wish-fulfilled?lang=eng&query=warm+fuzzies then you will understand) on it to represent how much happiness I bring her and it the letter made me cry because it was so cute and touching. I loved it. I thought this was just a great birthday gift. No, it gets better. I went home all fluttery with happiness and I go into my room, on my bed is a plate of cookies and a painting. My first thought was,"wow, mom actually bought me a professional painting." Then I get closer and see it is personalized tome...from Lauren. Guys, she is amazing. She can cook and paint!!

People, my initial is on the boat!! |
This is me and Lauren, flying through this life. |
Lauren and I go way back, we have been buds since the beginning of my time and most likely will be until the end of this time :) We went from dressing up as prom queen and a princess to playing with barbies for hours, exploring the attic, not showering for a week together at girls camp to baking cookies and decorating them and awkwardly giving them to people. What a journey we have been. I love Lauren and I will continue to do so. Sometimes I ask myself, "how was I so lucky to be friends with a friend like Lauren?' Really, I have no idea how, all I know is that she is great and if you dont' have friend like Lauren, to bad for you! I have Lauren and you should be jealous ;) (actually I surprised that she puts up with me at all)
This was us two years ago, no showers for a week. Yep we are beautiful |
Lauren (left) me (right) are on a boat when I am like 5 or something. So fun! |
